The Best Of The Best
“Not only is Ash Creek Vineyards perched on beautiful rolling hills with stunning vistas above the scenic AlexanderValley, it prides itself with 38 producing acres of some of the highest quality wine grapes of both Sonoma and Napa counties.”
Why Is Ash Creek Vineyards One Of The Highest Quality Producers?
“Ash Creek Vineyards is a consistent Gold Medal winning mountain vineyard estate. In fact, ACV has won more GOLD Medals for its Imagery Ash Creek Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon in the last 6 years than any other single vineyard in SonomaCounty, and ACV Cabernet Sauvignon has been a Vineyards Designated (it’s name on the bottle) wine for the last 10 years in a row, a glowing, marketing head-start.” (see enologix.com, cabernet)
What Makes Ash Creek Vineyards Have Higher Quality Than Others?
The “terroir”, and the ideal southern exposure, make Ash Creek Vineyards a “site-specific” phenomenon of very rich, red, volcanic soils. With elevations ranging from 2,000 to 2,400 feet and an abundance of water from 5 lakes, Ash Creek Vineyards has all the ingredients for the continued production of luxurious, world class wines.

Ash Creek Was Voted #1 In A Blind Tasting of Mountain Vineyards
“A mountain appellation blind tasting was held by Kendall Jackson Winery in July of 2006 consisting of some of the most famous mountain appellation wines in California including, Mount Veeder, Howell Mountain, Alexander Mountain, Santa Cruz, Diamond Mountain, Tri-County, and Pine Mountain Appellation (Pine Mountain is soon to become an official AVA located above the Alexander Valley). Ash Creek Vineyards was voted (#1) as tops in its class amongst the heavy hitters of both Napa and Sonoma. Ash Creek Vineyards is a high-profile, well known vineyard estate, and quite obviously, the JEWEL of Pine Mountain standing ready for its own label and winery.”
Ash Creek Vineyards is a high profile, well known vineyard standing ready for its own label and winery.
Very seldom do properties live up the hype, but in this case we have found a property that is truly magic. Consisting of approximately 233 acres in all with two parcels, tucked away from the world high on a mountain yet just 15 minutes to town. Here you will find a beautiful custom home, plus a late 1800’s Victorian second home, 2 small farm labor homes, 38 acres of the finest quality grapes majestically rolling up and down the hillside and 5 natural filled ponds scattered around with swans, geese, ducks, huge fish, turtles and other water animals. There are an assortment of 100 year old Oaks, Madrone Trees, and Conifers that add to the magical charm. In the late 1800’s there was a water company that sold water from one of the two Artesian Wells that flow year round with pure fresh water.

History
The history of the suject property can be traced back to the Spanish Rancho Tzabaco settlement created in 1843. Historical records indicate grapes were among the first crops planted in the area In the 1860's the land on which the subject property sits was purchased by Samuel and Lavina Allen. Samuel gained noteriety as a deputy sheriff involved in a shootout with Black Bart, who was holed up in the nearby Geysers area.
The land was sold in 1896 to Catherine Burgan. The earliest evidence of vineyards on the property is a photograph from 1904 showing Catherine's son, Charles, plowing the land between 15+ year old vines on a knoll near Jacknife Ridge Vineyard. It is said that at that time Carignane, Zinfandel, and Mission grapes were sold to the old Ledger Winery in Cloverdale for $10 / ton. One of the parcels has never been logged and there are over 30 acres of large Oak Trees that may generate over $5,000 a tree if logged off. Or leave the stately Oak trees as they sit.

Vineyard Locale
The combination of climate and geography reigns supreme at the subject property. The vineyards are located on alluvial fans on the slopes of Pine Mountain.
Wines are made in the vineyard. This age old adage has been used for years to describe vineyards througout the world. In Sonoma County, few vineyards can compare to the pedigree and 100+ year history of the subject property. The unique characteristics of the terrior at the Vineyards 6 plots have provided winemakers amazing grapes from which are crafted world class wines. This property truly represents all the characteristics of a First Growth Estate. The property sits atop northern Alexander Valley's Pine Mountain at elevations from 2,100 to 2,300 feet.

Vineyard Designation
The 233 acres of rolling hills are high in the mountains of Northern Sonoma County and part of the Alexander Valley Appellation, soon to become Sonoma County's new Appellation known as the “Pine Mountain Mayacmas Appellation” that will also spread into Mendocino County. This new Appellation will soon be considered as one of the most revered growing areas in Sonoma County for premium Cabernet Sauvignon or Bordeaux style grapes.
All 38 acres (5 varietals) of ultra premium Grapes are making very high quality wines. Most of the wines made from the grapes of Ash Creek Vineyards are “Vineyard Designated”. This means that each bottle of our wines has the “Ash Creek Vineyards” name on it. There are Gold Medals given for every harvest with ratings all over “90 points” in all categories from wine tastings, competitions, and magazines every year. These are the type of grapes that winemakers fight over and are a rare find in today’s market. Come visit, and “taste” what we mean.
