    PINE MOUNTAIN VINEYARDS
    BLOCK INFORMATION
The vineyards planted along Ash Creek are divided into 11 blocks and were planted in 1997 with first production in 2000. All blocks are planted to VSP (vertical shoot positioning) with row spacing 9 x 5 feet. All blocks feature drip irrigation. Blocks #1, and #4 thru 11 feature micro frost protection. The hillside blocks #2 and #3 do not require frost protection. All blocks have reached uniform growth maturity, and yield should vary slightly based upon growing conditions in a given vintage.

Block #1: Is planted to 2 acres +/- Cabernet Franc planted on rootstock 101-14. This variety demonstrates slightly more vigor than Cabernet Sauvignon. It will set fruit at approximately 4.5 to 5 t/pa, and after a verasion crop adjustment yield 6 to 7 tons. Conservative average yield: 6.5 tons.

Blocks #2 thru 11: are planted to 22+/- acres of Cabernet Sauvignon on rootstock 4453. With slightly less vigor than the Cab Franc, these blocks set fruit at 3.5 to 4 t/pa. In a low yield season, these blocks produce 66-70 tons, reduced at verasion to 60-62 tons. In a high yield vintage, the blocks are capable of producing 90 total tons, which should be reduced by approximately 10% at verasion to ensure uniform ripening and maximum flavor development. Conservative average yield: 65 tons.

The newer vineyard behind the housing compound is 12acres+/- planted on VSP trellis at a row spacing of 7 x 5 feet. It is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon on 101-14 and 3309 rootstocks. It is drip irrigated without micro-frost emitters. The 2004 was the first vintage for the vineyard which is under contract to a well known winery.   This vineyard produces approximately 50 to 60 tons/year due to the higher density planting. (7x5 versus 9x5 row spacing).
