Indian Springs - Chardonnay
Planted 1985
This Chardonnay block, planted in 1985, consists of approximately 5 acres and is Ash Creeks’ lowest elevation vineyard at 2,000 feet. More sunlight per day than Valley floor vineyards, the terrain is gentle rolling hills with soils made up of the Sobrante/Suther/Laughlin gravelly loams, reddish brown in color. The rootstock is AXR-1 certified, heat treated clone 8 purchased from Sonoma Grapevines. These vines are extremely healthy with no phylloxera, other diseases, or problems; only Ash Creek Vineyard equipment is used to farm and harvest the block. There are approximately 2,565 vines spaced at 7 x 12. The vineyard is cane pruned and leaf thinned shortly after berry set for optimum sun exposure, drip irrigated and fertigated. The site was ripped and fumigated prior to planting.
